Weathered Cylinder Vase

Made from a long-ago tree that spent many years as a farm fence, this white pine has been resurfaced with a spokeshave and sectioned to become bud vases. The cracks, called checks, are what happens when wood dries naturally, water is released, and the material shrinks and stabilizes. These vases are painted black to highlight the formal qualities of naturally aged material and reveal the complex beauty of nature’s work.

Our wood vases are topcoated with water-resistant, water-based or oil-based polyurethane and hand-rubbed to a satin sheen. Vases use a glass test tube to hold flowers and water, each vase comes with a spare test tube. All vases have a felt bottom to protect your surfaces.
